Thiruvannamalai is one of the greatest saivite shrine in India, now attracting lakhs of pilgrims every full moon. The mountain here is considered to be very sacred manifestation of Shiva.The legend goes, the Shiva assume the form of a huge column of fire whose origin Brahma and Vishnu failed to trace.

* Ramana Maharishi
Sri Ramana Maharshi, named Venkataraman at birth, was born on the 30th of December, 1879. It was an auspicious day for the Hindus, the Ardra-darsanam day. On this day every year the image of the Dancing Siva, Nataraja, is taken out of the temples in procession in order to celebrate the divine grace of the Lord that made Him appear before such saints as Gautama, Patanjali, Vyaghrapada, and Manikkavacaka.

Sathanur Dam :
A Picnic spot with a crocodile farm biggest in South Asia. The dam also has hydroelectric Project functioning.

Fort Gingee :
The famous fortification of Chola Dynasty was built about 700 years ago. Vijayanagar Emperors, Marathas and the Mugals Held it after the Cholas. It was also in the hands of the French for 11 years in the 18th century. Many ballads describe the heroic exploits of Raja Desingh. A journey through the historical monuments inside reveals of past glory.

Javaddu Hills :
Jamunamarathur the main trading village in the Javadu Hills, has a varying altitude between 300mts to 1000mts. It is famous for its sandalwood and fruit bearing trees. The Beeman water falls in the thick reserve forests from 100ft high is worth a trek and exercise for those chair struck limbs. The lake and the boat ride is a pleasant experience for tourists.
The Kavalur Observatory :
Biggest in Asia can take you thorugh the stars planetary brilliance and the milky way through their sophisticated and modern telescopes. For those wild and adventurous, a trek to Amirthy forest though risky is worthwhile.

Hogennakal Water Falls :
Loacated on the Cauvery River, it is a meandering river falling from varying heights of 15ft to 100ft high. Hogennakal, means 'Smoking Rock', a name derived from the cloud of mist and spray that engulf the chasm.

YELAGIRI : A mountain Resort with Boating and Trekking Facilities.
Yercaud : Located on the Shervaroy Ranges, is a quite and restful hill station. Its temperature never rises above 30deg.C and below 13deg.C. Its altitude is 1515msl. It has a lake for boating besides a vast panoramic view points. The killiyur falls, from 3000ft. high is amidst a picturesque surroundings.

Kolli Hills : At an altitude of 1190mts. and with 70 terrace type haripin bends ghat road, honey, the fruits cultivated and the unchanged tribal culture are unique memories. The magnificent Akasgangai Water falls flowing from a height of 2000 ft is a sight to be cherished. The local festival Valvi Ori and Tourism Festival are celebrated in August.
